Located on the waters edge The Bayou Bungalow is a family style lodge for those who want the comfort of home and yet have a hideaway of their own. Decorated with the latest up to date style. With a large living area, very clean lodge you will want to return year after year. The Bayou Bungalow is located on the banks of the Bayou De Chein, a natural bayou that leads to the North East side of the Upper Blue Basin.

After launching your boat at the nearby launch you can then bring your boat up to the Bungalow. From there you will be able to access the lake and fish all species of fish like crappie, bream, catfish, and large mouth bass. Just hop in your boat and take off. Since the Bayou Bungalow is situated next to a national wildlife refuge you'll enjoy all types of wildlife. Those who have stayed at the Bungalow immediately book again for another vist. They say this place is the best vacation rental. If you will be arriving late and planning to fish or hunt ask for my help in obtaining your fishing license & lake permit. We just want to be sure you can take advantage of your precious time off.

PURPLE MARTINS ON THE BAYOU

Next door to the lodge is the largest Purple Martin Colony in Walnut Log. With 44+ nesting pair you will find watching this beautiful bird very breathtaking. The martin season has already started we got our first bird on Feb. 23rd. the season usually ends around mid to late July or early August. Now is the time to plan your vacation for this years season. Our plan is to expand nesting cavities to accomodate the sub adults. 

This year during the martin season we hosted 100% capacity of martins. They fledged over 200 babies. Our babies we fledged this year will move on next year to a new colony sight. They typically do not come back to the nesting sight they were raised. Our babies this year will probably start a colony for some other lucky landlord.

If you want to make your $100.00 deposit by credit card we accept PayPal ONLY otherwise you may mail us your payment. The deposit will be deducted from your total.  Please visit our agreement page for reserving and confirming your vacation. Credit Cards may be used only for reserving, cash or check expected at the time of arrival for the balance.  If the deposit has not been received within 2 weeks of your initial arrangment your booking may be forfeited.
